I don’t like this. Yes, technically they’re graphics cards, but any coin that can be mined by something designed specifically for mining becomes a little bit worse in my opinion. XMR should be mineable by things that can be acquired with ease or things you already have (your GPU, CPU).
to be fair, that things hashrate, power consumption and cost are nothing special. at all. they’re all right inline with other mining equipment. the parts are nothing special either. everything is either off the shelf or a simple modification of something of the shelf. anyone could assemble one themselves, funds permitting
interestingly, based on their indicated hashrate v power consumption, GPU mining is only marginally more power efficient than CPU mining
