HTC Blockchain-Powered Smartphone To Support Litecoin, Lightning Network
After he reportedly met with the HTC Exodus team last week, the founder of Litecoin has confirmed that the yet-to-be-released blockchain-powered smartphone will support Litecoin and Lightning Network. Charlie Lee also confirms that he has been appointed as an advisor for the crypto-related phone as part of efforts to ensure Lightning Network’s mass adoption through the world’s first native blockchain phone dedicated to decentralized applications and security.
Lee’s appointment was confirmed on the HTC Exodus Twitter page. Though the basic features of the phone are yet to be made public, its first target audience falls among the about 30 million cryptocurrency wallet owners. It is also known that the HTC Exodus is in a partnership with CryptoKitties to offer a collectible marketplace and crypto gaming app store.
“At the end of the day, it’s about security,” says HTC’s Chief Crypto Officer, Phil Chen, in an interview with CNBC last week. “We’re building a wallet into the phone. It’s about levels of security. So if you want to store crypto assets and cryptocurrencies on the phone, what they call cold storage security, that’s what we’re building.”
The phone is expected out in the market before the end of September.
