Chinese Gov’t Revises Public Blockchain Ranking, Bitcoin Up Six Places

China’s center for information and industry development (CCID) has revised its public blockchain ranking for this month, moving Bitcoin up six places, from the 19th place in the previous month to the 13th spot, while EOS and Ethereum are still favored.

The seventh monthly Global Public Blockchain Technology Assessment Index was recently released by CCID, a research unit under the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The number of crypto projects evaluated remains at 33, unchanged from the previous ranking.

EOS retains its top spot in the ranking, followed by Ethereum. Both are highly praised in terms of basic technology, applicability and innovation – three key indicators the evaluation is based on. In the innovation category, Bitcoin tops the list; EOS takes the first spot in the basic technology category, and Ethereum ranks first in the applicability category.

  • Top 5: EOS, Ethereum, BitShares, Steem, Nebulas,
  • Top 5 by technology: EOS, BitShares, Steem, Ethereum, GXChain
  • Top 5 by applicability: Ethereum, NEO, Nebulas, Qtum, Dash
  • Top 5 by innovation: Bitcoin, EOS, Ethereum, Cardano, Monero

This month, Bitcoin has been moved up from the 19th place in the previous month to the 13th place; BCH, which has recently endured a contentious hard fork, dropped one spot to the 29th place; Decred sank to the bottom of the list, replacing NEM which was at the bottom last month.

According to the index, public blockchain adopting grapheme architecture seem to have better positions. Four out of six top crypto projects, including EOS, BitShares, Steem and GXChain, are based on grapheme.

It is notable that though the crypto market endured a massive drop earlier this month, these listed crypto projects all have a higher score in the ranking for this month.
