Bitcoin Community, Time to Pull Together
Note: Cao Xiaogang, an early bitcoin adopter and holder, is now an entrepreneur and co-founder of a crowdfunding platform. He believed:
“At this particular point in history, the bitcoin community should pull together to change the world of bitcoin for better instead of insulting and attacking one another.”
Here is the full interview.
I’ve heard a lot about you in the bitcoin community, and I never thought I would have the pleasure to meet you in person. You’ve been adopting bitcoin ever since it was born in 2009. You must have a lot of stories to tell.
Thank you for saying so, but I’m not one of the very first bitcoin adopters. It all happened overnight in the middle of 2011 when I was beginning to read news about bitcoin. And there were articles telling you how to mine bitcoin. I started to use GPU to mine bitcoin, but I never regarded bitcoin as a means of making money. I only saw it as, how can I put it? Experiment.
In the end of 2011, bitcoin price plummeted and fake news like” bitcoin has died” were all over the web. But the price of bitcoin soared and transaction volumes increased dramatically in 2012. The truth was that if electric charges were cut out, I was not making any money at that time.
Then why not sold all your bitcoin?
Believe you me. I thought about it all the time, but I told myself,” Just hang in there. A great revolution is going on and you are part of it.” I wanna see what’s the future of bitcoin and how it’s gonna change the world, for better or for worse. That’s why I didn’t care about bitcoin price that much. I only checked some bitcoin forums once a month to see what people were interested.
What mining machines were you using?
I invested part of my money in Avalon in 2012, but there was a delivery delay. Anyway, I was really lucky to receive the first batch of its mining machines. At that time, I invested a lot in ASICMINER, but it failed to deliver its products in the end. Unexpectedly, I got a full refund. As you may see, at that time, the bitcoin community and the whole bitcoin ecosystem were built on trust. But later things went kinda nasty. You started to hear lots of news about bitcoin exchanges be shut down, be hacked and users’ assets be drained. You see verbal abuses going on among different platforms and coins. This is just so sad and pathetic. I mean, in China, we’ve got the money and the people, we should work to change the world of bitcoin for better instead of insulting and attacking each other. How come we only think of price? There are a lot of things to work on.
How to bring talents together to develop, test and scale best software and hardware solutions?
How to disseminate news and information to help bridge Chinese bitcoin users and their counterparts in the West?
How to utilize blockchain, the backbone technology of bitcoin?
I have been living two lives. In one life, I am a news editor of 8btc. I translate news, interview bitcoiners and miners. In the other life, I am an AI bot programmed to .......Forget it! Who is gonna buy this BS! I'm just me, Cindy, nobody else.

At this particular point in history, there are verbal abuses going on all over the web. I don’y care if you are for BU or CORE, just stop fighting. Seriously, the bitcoin community should pull together to change the world of bitcoin for better instead of insulting and attacking one another.
Is that a concrete proposal
starting with core “independent devs” being independent instead of holding themselves centralised to one brand
But isn’t blockstream a private company ? So how would that work ?
It’s what we all want but the parties you mentioned plus big mining cartels have their personal interests ahead of the community. Unfortunately the infighting will continue for a while yet.

I agree, we are comunity bitcoin growing bitcoin depend on us and we must stop fighting the real enemies are the peoples who want kill bitcoin and wanna bitcoin be die should we can make bitcoin more easy be used for all of people in the world.
As possible, I want the bitcoin core. Of course I am hesitant to changes where I did not know the outcome. If this BTU can offer more features and will transact faster compared to BTC then its good. In addition if the transaction is cheaper then another plus factor.

That cannot happen. If you know what is going on and how those codes are going to affect bitcoin today and in the future then you will understand as to how crucial it is to select a code which is beneficial to bitcoin community. But you dont need to worry over this matter I believe that the existence of UASF will going to stop miners to go against each other.

Everything forks eventually; religions, governments, species,…etc. Conflict is natural and could force innovation. Choose a side and embrace it because there’s little choice left.

People will always remain divided because all have their own opinion and preferences. Same goes for block size debate, some want segwit while other wants unlimited which is basically hard fork (not good for bitcoin). Only one that have majority of community support will live while another one will die within few months. Just don’t worry about all this fud/attacks, relax and make proper moves to make a lot of bitcoin playing with alts.
discussion will only make Bitcoin stronger over time, if it doesn’t kill Bitcoinonce it is over we all will be stronger

Bitcoin Community has pulled together. Maybe it’s time to listen to the community 🙂
Grrr i want some improvements to those transactions.I think that braking Honkong agreement was not fair from core too. They should execute Hongkong agreement.

At this point there is unwise to think that there is anyone involved in bitcoin who is not affiliated with higher power of some sort. The only difference is who are your masters: Chinese miners (R. Ver) or corporations (core devs) or maybe even someone we don’t know yet?

Maybe you can read this interview with an early Chinese bitcoin adopter and holder, he said Chinese investors only think of Money, but they forget that’s not what bitcoin was born for. http://news.8btc.com/bitcoin-community-time-to-pull-together

What exactly do u mean by ” There’s little choice left.”
We can’t pull together with BU shills they are trying to destroy Bitcoin, make it China coin.We have nothing to do with them. Its a neoplasm, cancer, we should get rid of them.

His post is a bit of an oxymoron… I think he means choose a side, but the probability of choosing left is minimal, a.k.a we are forking to the right! In all seriousness though, in a perfect world the idea is great. Sadly humans are not often capable of putting aside differences once they are entrenched in their ideas, at least not until there is some negotiating at a higher level. If core and unlimited developers got together and hashed out ideas starting from a middle ground and discussing solutions to problems they disagree on, we might have progress. If bitcoin is to become more than just a storage of wealth or a means to move large sums of money there will need to be some conclusion to the current debate.
Just a good proposal though but it wont work since people do really have different mindsets which means we cant blame them if they would like to act like that since we do have the freedom of speech on a certain thing. This BU would really become just an ALT of bitcoin. lol
